Smokies Win Game 2
Fans were treated to a high-scoring affair Thursday as the Ballantyne Smokies (24-16) outscored the Carolina Chaos (21-18) 11-10. The two teams combined for 26 hits in the game. The Ballantyne Smokies scored four runs in the first inning to build an early lead. Jonathan Wandling singled to start the seventh. He then went from first to second on an RBI single by Clint Hamilton. Finally, Ray came to the plate with the Carolina Chaos trailing by one, and, scoring Wandling. Ray racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Carolina Chaos. He doubled in the third inning. Shane Basen went a perfect 3-3 at the plate for the Ballantyne Smokies. He singled in the first, second, and fourth innings. He also had a sac fly and a walk in the game. Parker Lang improved to 2-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Ballantyne Smokies. Lang struck out none, walked one and gave up one hit. Cody Walters (0-2) was the game’s losing pitcher. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed three runs. Brandon Harris gave the smokies an 11-8 lead in the top of the 8th when he hit a 3 run homer to right.
